A member asked:

Chest pain from a heart attack lasts a while, right, not just like 5-10 minutes then gets better?

It can be short...: Unstable angina can come in quick waves of 5-15 minutes, and should be evaluated. However, 18 year olds don't regularly have this unless there is a problem that has existed or worsened since birth....

Heart attack: Heart attack pain usually lasts a while and more than 5-10min but can vary. An 18y/o is unlikely to have a heart attack but it isn't impossible. Five or 10 minute chest discomfort in your age group is likely to be GI gas or other cause. If heart attacks 'run' in your family, then get checked.

Not really: A heart attack can have very different symptoms. Chest pain can last anything from a few minutes to hours. Heart attack can also occur without any chest pain at all!
