Convention: By convention, pregnancy dates are calculated based on your last menstrual period. In a 28 day cycle ovulation happens on day 14. When told you are 6 weeks pregnant, that means you ovulated 4 weeks ago. This explains why intercourse 4 weeks ago led to your pregnancy.
