12 months: Generally, it's considered ok to switch an infant to cow's milk at 12 months. But it is important to check if there might be any allergies to cow's milk. Also, now is the time for transitioning off baby bottles. By one year, babies should be on sippy cups or regular cups, to avoid tooth decay and obesity.

At 12 months, when : You can wean to a doubled-handled, open-mouthed cup. Limit milk & milk products to 16-21 oz./day to avoid constipation & iron-deficiency anemia. If you give juice (not recommended) limit it to 4-6 oz./day. Since the same muscles used for eating & drinking are used for talking, use a "commuter cup" if you feel you need a lidded one. Sippy cups keep the tongue forward in an immature sucking position.
