How long period: Though variable, ovulation is generally 14 days after the first day day of the period; within that range pregnancy can occur so it depends on how long it was after the first day of last period. That soon after is generally low probability but telling you that you will not be pregnant is unwise from a doctor perspective. Consider Plan B next time; it will save some concern; better yet the pill.
