Can i give my 10 month old allegra and claritin (loratadine)?

Talk to your doc: Can you? Sometimes. Claritin (loratadine) usually, not Allegra at that age. However, a classic allergy is a rarity at that age. Not impossible, but rare. I'd discuss this with your doc and if you're considering allergy medicine may need further investigation.

Most would say no...: The party line is no antihistamines for children under 2 -6 years old. However, if you contact your pediatrician, some can calculate a "weight per miligram" dose that would be "safe" for the size/age of your child. Allegra/claritin are non sedating antihistamines. Benadryl/zyrtec are sedating. Use at this age is usually indicated for allergic reactions such as hives or insect bite reactions.

Allergic triggers: A food allergy panel test may identify a food that triggers an allergic reaction. The reason for the use of these medications at this age should be further investigated.
