It can: It certainly can. You need to have other values such as tsh, t4, free T3 (liothyronine) and thyroid binding globulin to fully assess. Also, if you're symptomatic in some way, this factors in as well. Please discuss fully with the physician who ordered the test! good luck.

Other way around: An autoimmune disorder is the reason for anti-thyroid antibodies. It doesn't mean you'll get other autoimmune diseases, however. Autoimmune thyroiditis is associated with other autoimmune diseases, but more often than not, people don't go on to develop others.
