Birth anatomy: Your question needs slightly more info. There is a term called malrotation and deals with abnormal rotation of the blood vessels an the small intestine and colon. Another possibility is if there is a defect of the diaphragm that allow the stomach to come through and twist. Ultimately it is usually an abnormal rotation of the intestines and blood supply. Can't be prevented or foreseen.

Depends : What do you mean by twisted stomach? If one means malrotation then it is a congenital defect in which non or abnormal fixation of the intestine occurrs. Hallmark is bilious emesis with abdominal pain. Emergent treatment is imperative.
