What is a cosmeceutical?

Skin care products: Cosmeceuticals are skin care products sold through physicians or skin care specialists. They contain higher concentrations of active ingredients than over the counter products. Because of the greater potency, they have higher risk of skin reactions, but they also produce real result.

Cosmeceutical?: The term "cosmeceutical" has (to the best of my knowledge and a few phone calls) no meaning. In the US, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) does not recognize the term "cosmeceutical," the cosmetic industry uses this word to refer to cosmetic products that have medicinal or drug-like benefits. A product can be a drug, a cosmetic or both. Marketing to make things seem "official" -
