Carpal tunnel: Hands falling asleep could be carpal tunnel syndrome which classically wakes patients up at night. They shake their hands to get the feeling back. Conservatively treat with wrist splints. See a neurologist and make sure it's not a manifestation of cervical spine stenosis causing pressure on your nerves. Surgical management for carpal tunnel is an option once all other modalities fail.

Carpal Tunnel: The most common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, a nerve compression at the wrist, are numbness and tingling at night, when you awaken, when driving, when holding a phone to your ear, when brushing your hair, and others. I recommend careful evaluation by a hand surgeon who can help you get an accurate diagnosis and treatment to hopefully permanently cure this issue.
