Old antihistamine: Vistaril (hydroxyzine) is Hydroxyzine (aka atarax) a first generation antihistamine that is used as a sedative to treat anxiety and tension. It is still used on occasion to treat itchy skin rashes. It may also be used in conjunction with anesthesia.

It is a brand name : Hydroxyzine has been around since the 60s and is used to treat anxiety but it is more frequently used as an antihistamine..Generally it will be used in patients who are having an allergic reaction to a drug or food, or who have itchy rashes or hives. It can cause a great deal of sedation and may be best taken at bedtime.
