Vein thrombosis: Thrombosis of the hepatic vein (the vein taking the blood from the liver is called budd chiari syndrome it can cause cirrhosis and ascites (collection of fluid in the abdominal cavity) due to back pressure.

Liver veins obstruct: Budd chiari syndrome is defined as the clinical presentation ( symptoms) related to the occlusion or obstruction of the hepatic ( liver) veins. Most of the time, it is represented by abdominal pain, ascite ( increased abdominal fluids) and hepatomegaly ( increased liver size, caused by veins obstruction). It can be acute or chronic.
