No: Asigmatism is more common than not having astigmatism. It means that the front of the eye is not perfectly spherical. It is not painful.

Shouldn't be: Contact lenses to correct astigmatism are now readily available. With a proper fit, they should not be uncomfortable so if yous are painful, then you need a re-look and re-fit to correct the problem.
