Can Be Normal: This is common and can simply be old blood that hasn't been released yet. Birth control pills, especially if recently started, can also contribute to irregular shedding or brownish thickened discharge. Continue your pills as directed (if on them) & otherwise just track your cycle. If it worsens or bothers you, see your gyn or primary care physician for help. Take care.
