A member asked:

Does having an std in the throat cause throat cancer or increase your risk?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: Certain types of infectious diseases, especially viral, can increase your risk of head and neck cancers. Similar to cervical cancer. However, patients with head and neck cancers thought to be related to viral infections generally have better clinical outcomes (when compared to head and neck cancers cause by tobacco, etc).
