Sperm lasts up to 7d: Studies of sperm show viable sperm present for up to a week. But the closer to ovulation, the better are the chances of pregnancy. In general it takes a lot of the little buggers to get through the protective layers around the egg. (the numbers decrease fairly rapidly a few hours after sex.).
