Does drinking wine cause headaches?

It can.: If you have a reaction to the sulfites (red wine) you may have a headache. If you drink too much (as with any alcohol) you may experience a headache.

Yes, in some people: Drinking red wine causes headaches in some people, but white wine doesn't cause a problem. The cause for "red wine headache" is uncertain, but is likely due to a chemical in red wine. Also, drinking beer, wine, or liquor causes flushing (red skin) and some headache, in people who get too much aldehyde (from alcohol metabolism) when drinking alcohol. The aldehyde problem is a genetic condition.
