Isolation & Anorexia: Anorexia can lead to irritability, mood swings, difficulties thinking and avoidance of social events that involve food. All of these can lead to social isolation and estrangement. Anorexia nervosa is potentially life threatening too, so it is important to seek medical attention if one is concerned they or a loved one suffers from anorexia.

Great question: Anorexia can effect people in many ways socially. For example, the person with anorexia can be afraid to go out to eat with friends, because excuses will have to be made up for not eating. In addition, people with anorexia often have low self esteem and body image issues, so dating and intimacy can sometimes be challenging. Seeing a mental health professional is very important to fight anorexia.
