Many options: First try to identify the trigger. Some patients are sensitive to nsaids like ibuprofen. Stress, heat and hormones may aggravate symptoms. See an allergist to help determine if it is chronic autoimmune urticaria, idiopathic or a physical urticaria. Newer antihistamines are generally preferred over old sedating antihistamines. Your allergist can find the right combination and avoid prednisone.
