No: Although a yeast infection can irritate the skin and make it more likely for the partner with yeast to catch an std from an std infected partner (since breaks in the skin are entry points for infection), yeast infections cannot transmit std's.

A 41-year-old female asked:

Can std and yeast infection feel similar?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Hunter Handsfield
Infectious Disease 53 years experience
Yes and no: Vaginal yeast usually irritation or itching, sometimes with scant clumpy white discharge, no odor. Discharge due to STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas) usually yellowish, often with odor, usually little irritation. Bacterial vaginosis thin, gray discharge, strong odor, no itch. Herpes can mimic yeast; check for open sores/blisters. These are only guidelines; many exceptions. See your doctor!
