Is it typical for hemi-facial spasms to be preceeded by a broken jaw?

Nerve/muscle injury?: A person who has had facial fractures or other facial trauma can have damage to facial muscles or nerves. Sometimes the swelling after trauma can compress and damage nerves or muscles. An ENT (ear nose throat) doctor is a surgeon who can evaluate facial nerve and muscle symptoms to see what treatment is necessary. Nerve damage can paralyze some face muscles.

Not related: Hemi facial spasm is a condition that affects the facial nerve and result in uncontrollable spasms of the muscles of expression on one side of the face. A broken jaw can result in some facial numbness but should not cause spasms of the muscles of expression but can cause spasms in the chewing muscles.

NO: No. For you to ask a question with "broken jaw" in the inquiry, I assume you have had trauma to the jaw. See an oral & maxillofacial surgeon to ensure you have not damaged your jaw.
