A member asked:

What pain meds are less likely to effect hormone and testosterone levels than oxcy? and be an effective pain med for chronic pain. 50mg daily now

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Non narcotics : Any of the narcotic pain medications can have the property of suppressing testosterone levels. It appears to be a centrally acting effect, affecting the regulatory hormones, rather than the testes directly. Low testosterone levels are almost like a symptom. I've seen it happen with oxycontin, Methadone and fentanyl. It's what we call a "class effect, " caused by all members in a group more or less.
