A member asked:

When during the day should you take supplemental iron?

Yes, if needed.: Many women with heavy periods and women who are pregnant become iron deficient and even anemic. Iron supplements are a good way to replace low iron levels, but often are difficult to absorb. They can also cause constipation. Take iron with vitamin c. Foods like dark, green leafy vegetables (kale), pea-based proteins, and quinoa are iron-rich. Go organic when you can!

Spaced out: If you need more than one tablet of iron per day, space out when you take them. Also, take with vitamin c or orange juice. Don't take around the same time as other meds or a prenatal vitamin...Space it out by at least 2-3 hours.
