Gestational surrogacy: Gestational surrogacy is when a woman carries a child conceived through in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer from another couple. The embryo originates from the couple egg and sperm. This normally occurs when the wife of the couple has a uterine abnormality that prevents her from carrying the pregnancy.
