Eye removal: This is the technical term for removal of the entire eyeball. This is done in blind eyes, or eyes containing tumors that threaten the body. It is a surgical procedure usually done under general anesthesia for eyes that are pathologic. It will be followed by the fitting of a prosthetic (artificial ) eye.
