Many possible causes: Many conditions can stop your periods - often polycystic ovarian sydrome (pcos), also thyroid or prolactin hormone problems, aging of the ovary (diminished ovarian reserve), or low hormone levels (hypogonadism) from heavy exercise, eating disorders, or stress.
