Symptomatic: In all likelihood this is a viral infection. Symptomatic treatment with losenges (zinc fortified if you believe), fluids, Acetaminophen (less than 12x325mg tablets per day) and conservative activity is all you probably need for about 7-10 days. Seek medical treatment for worsening symptoms such as a higher fever, productive cough, increasingly severe headache, etc, .
