A member asked:

How long after right hemicolectomy surgery is it safe for a female to have sex?

Practice "Safe" Sex: There is nothing intrinsically dangerous about having sex after a right-colon resection. However, depending on the surgical technique, we don't want to overly stress the healing abdominal incision(s). Therefore, if you can have sex without any "heavy lifting", any time is fine.

Varies: Typically 4 to 6 weeks with laparoscopic surgery and 6 to 8 weeks with open approach. It also depends on how ur healing and if there are any complications. It's a question best answered by ur surgeon during follow up appointment.
