Not Soon: If you had sex the day before your menses started, that particular exposure will not result in pregnancy. If you have regular cycles, look for ovulatory signs in the 12-14 days before your next cycle or purchase an ovulation kiti. If you prefer birth control, use condoms with each sexual encounter until your doc can provide you with a better and more reliable method. Take care.
