Why is anal considered so taboo?

It requires caution: Anatomically things are just not set up for that. It must be done carefully or it can have significant consequences. Anal sex is very much an individual choice and like other more common sexual choices it should never be forced on anyone. Taboos come in many forms. It's up to the individuals involved to make their own choices - just be smart about it.
