Scoping the hip: Hip arthroscopy involves inserting a small lighted instrument with an attached camera into the hip joint to evaluate and treat certain types of joint problems. Small incisions (1cm) are used to insert the camera and instruments to perform the procedure. Labral tears, impingement, and muscle or tendon injuries may be treatable with this surgery.

Hip arthroscopy: Allows one with an arthroscope and instrumentation to examine the central, peripheral and peritrochanteric compartments of the hip. The labrum in the hip joint can be assessed along with surrounding articular cartilage; impingement lesions such as the pincer and/or cam can be addressed and the hip abductors (glutes) can be assessed. Synovial disease, loose bodies can be taken care of as well.

Visualization in hip: Hip arthroscopy is a diagnostic and therapeutic surgical procedure that entails placing a small camera the width of a pencil into the hip through a small 1 cm incision. Other similar incisions about the hip region allow instruments to be carefully placed into the hip to treat various injuries.
