PICA: An abnormal appetite or craving for substances that are not fit to eat. Such as chalk, clay or dirt. Pica is common in malnutrition.

Eating nonfood items: Pica, is characterized by persistent and compulsive cravings to eat nonfood items. May be associated w iron deficiency anemia, developmental disabilities like autism etc, pregnancy, mental health conditions e.g. Ocd, schizophrenia etc. Continued consumption may lead to lead poisoning, bowel problems, intestinal obstruction or perforation , dental injury or parasitic infection.
