What is the definition or description of: lobectomy?

Partial lung removal: The right lung is made up of the right upper, middle, and lower lobes. The left lung is made up the the upper and lower lobes and a portion that is called the lingula. A lobectomy is the removal of one of these lobes.

Partial lung remove: Lung resection surgery includes partial removal (wedge, segmentectomy, or lobectomy) or whole lung removal (pneumonectomy). Most lung removal, at modern centers, is performed minimally invasive with vats or robotic techniques. In "traditional" centers, lung surgery is more often by thorocotomy (more invasive technique).
