What is the definition or description of: discitis?

Inflamed disc: When a disc, anywhere along the vertebral column gets infected, the term discitis may be applied. This too is a general term not really focusing on the type of infection or causation, but have seen following surgery, and also with drug addicts who inject intravenously.
