Symptoms of Anorexia: Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person refuses to maintain a normal body weight, has a fear of being fat, and significantly misperceives their body weight or shape. People with anorexia tend to be female (about 90%). Patients are unaware that their preoccupation with weight is abnormal. They tend to see their low weight as an achievement, which limits their motivation to change.
