An opening or canal: In human anatomy a meatus is referenced usually referenced as an opening to a canal. For example the auditory meatus is the opening in your ear that opens into your hearing canal that transmits sounds to your to your brain for interpretation. Likewise the urinary meatus opens into your urethra through which urine is discharged.
