Eczema or psoriasis: Eczema and psoriasis are two things that can cause scalp rashes and burning sensations. If you pull your hair back in a tight pony tail then you may be damaging your hair follicles and that may feel like a burning. See a dermatologist for a diagnosis and treatment. Shampoos may be helpful if it is psoriasis. Oral antihistamines may work to reduce the burning if it is eczema.

See doctor: There are a number of reasons for this but the only way to find an answer is to have an evaluation with your primary care doctor or a dermatologist.
