On back: Emerging data show higher crib death (sids) rates when infants slept on their belly. We have seen a 40% decline in crib death since beginning back sleeping position in 1992.. Side sleeping was found as bad as front sleeping. Some rare medical conditions will require front sleeping but this will be discussed with you if it is necessary.
