Can kids with ear tubes still get ear infections?

Yes: In my experience the tubes drop the recurrence rate considerably but do not eliminate the possibility. Most see declines from 5-6 or more per year to a couple. Thease may occur with or without a mucous plug forming in the tube. Some ear infections with draining tubes can be treated with drops& avoid the problems of oral meds. Canal infections may also occur.

Yes: If tube is clogged and not functional, it is as if the tube is not there.
