No: Selective mutism is its own neuropsychiatric diagnosis. It may or may not be associated with any other disorder or pathologic state like child abuse. Most often it is not associated with any other issue.

No: Selective mutism is a manifestation of early and extreme social phobia. The major risk is arises from high anxiety in childhood - something you are or aren't born with. This is not to be confused with withdrawal, mutism etc that arise in many other disorders including ptsd after trauma or abuse.
