A member asked:

How much acetaminophen one can take without damaging the liver?

2,000 mgs a day: No more than this amount per 24 hrs seems to be safe. However, if you are taking multiple meds that are cleared by the liver, especially alcohol, even 2, 000 mgs a day may be potentially toxic.

4gm: If you are otherwise healthy and don't have any pre-existing liver disease, it is recommended that no more than 4gm of Acetaminophen be consumed over any 24 hour time period.
