What does hypertension lead to?

2 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Many medical issues: Uncontrolled hypertension can lead to many medical problems including eye disease (bleeding in the retina decreasing vision), stroke, heart attack, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (enlarged, stiff, less efficient heart), and kidney disease among many others. That is why it is so important to maintain as normal a blood pressure as possible.
