Heart pain: I love your question! there is indeed the heart as the seat of emotions, and the heart as the pumping organ. However, we now have a syndrome called "broken heart syndrome", described first by the japanese. It is characterized by a decreased pumping function of the heart following a severe emotional event. So we now have a link between spirit/emotion and heart/organ!

Poetry: What a poetic question : ) chest pain can be caused by anxiety and there is a complex interaction between stress, depression, anxiety and cardiovascular status. It certainly can feel like our heart hurts, but if one seriously has acute chest pain, radiating arm pain, pressure on chest etc call 911. If not acute see a cardiologist, many cardiac conditions are missed due to disregarding symptoms.
