A member asked:

I have congestive heart failure. my father and mother died at a early age with this problem. my question is why do i feel bloated and full in the upper part of my stomach is the normal for people who have congestive heart failure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

People : People can present different ways with fluid retention when they have congestive heart failure (chf). Many people will classically have edema (swelling) of their legs, but not all. Some people will carry fluid in their abdomen, and quite often people can have a congested (full) liver that can swell with chf. I would recommend that you consider this a potential, although not definitive, symptom of CHF and talk with your cardiologist.
