Melasma?: Melasma of the face is often in a butterfly pattern but may be spotty. If you only have one spot and it is growing, you need to see a dermatologist and get a biopsy.

Hormone related...: Melasma, chloasma, and the "mask of pregnancy" are all terms for facial pigmentation that is increased by the use of estrogen (in pregnancy, of course, the estrogen comes from the placenta). There are some bleaching creams that can help to decrease this appearance. See your doctor or dermatologist if you are concerned. Lgromkomd.
