It : It is possible, and some surgeons will do both at once. It increases risk of needing a blood transfusion. I usually recommend one at a time.

Bilateral tka : They can be done at the same time. However, recent studies have shown higher medical and surgical complications in certain patients that undergo bilateral knee replacements. There was a study showing that the risks were higher for patients older than 50. Therefore, it is possible but best reserved for certain patients.
