Hormonal treatments such as birth control pills, Progesterone treatments and the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD are effective reversible treatments that will help many people. Find a reason why: Treatment of heavy bleeding, menorrhagia, depends on the cause. Some women simply have a thick uterine lining, others have fibroids or polyps. Ovulation problems, certain infections, and bleeding disorders are potential explanations. Pregnancy is also a common cause. Most of these problems can be treated while maintaining fertility. Best to get an ultrasound and assessment from an expert.
