No: Herpes may cause pain due to inflammation of the nerves. It does not cause cervical cancer.

Yes: Herpes is very complicated. Simply put, there are essentially two types: cold sores (type i) and genital herpes (type ii). In patients with weak immune systems, herpes can cause ulcers in the esophagus, encephalitis (brain inflammation) and neurological disorders to name a few. In relatively healthy adults, an annoying cold sore or painful genital outbreaks can occur occassionally.
