Hello. : Hello. A number of changes to the tongue can potentially occur during pregnancy. The first is geographic tongue which discolors areas of taste buds (due to inflammation). The tongue can develop a white coating (composed of deal cells & bacteria) during pregnancy when dehydrated. White coloring of the tongue can also be due to swelling of the papillae(protrusion on the tongue which the taste buds sit on top off).

Marquette, Forgive : Marquette, forgive me for being a bit insensitive, I am male and i can never truely understand. But, if i were 13 days late for anything, i wouldn't be checking my tongue. Get a pregnancy test and find out. While during pregnancy a lot of changes occur including swollen and bleeding gums, i doubt any oral changes have materialized this soon. If congratulations are inorder, oral hygiene becomes all that more important. Gingivitis and periodontist are oral infections that can contribute to premature birth. Brush, brush and floss and see your dentist for a cleaning in your 2nd trimester. Michael is an excellent name that seems to be on the decline in use. But i could be a bit partial. Michael i. While : While this is possibly true, the more common oral sign is puffy bleeding gums. Sometimes signs are not direct signs, but indirect. Hormones from pregnancy feed oral bacteria, puffy gums causes a change in brushing habits, poor hygiene leads to changes in taste buds. While it may be related, it may not be directly related.
