Typically : Typically it takes about 3 cycles(months) for your periods to normalize. However if you do not want to deal with bleeding and spotting for that long you can discontinue the pill and ask your doctor to try another pill with a higher amount of estrogen in it. Something like ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) may be better for you. Otherwise if you decide to stay on the loloestrin yet continue to bleed go back to your doctor, hopefully she will tell you to stop the pill and give you a pill called Provera to stop the bleeding. Good luck.
