The : The hormonal level change can cause you to have heavier, prolonged bleeding. Other options would include implanon, which is a tiny rod inserted into the arm, which lasts for 3 years and usually stops menstruation after a few months. There is also the mirena, (levonorgestrel) which is inserted into the cervix, and lasts 5 years, and usually stops menstruation within a few months. These are birth control methods that you don't have to remember to take. However only a condom prevents infection.
